เจ้าแม่กวนอิม (觀音) คือพระโพธิสัตว์อวโลกิเตศวรในพุทธศาสนามหายาน ผู้สดับเสียงทุกข์ของสรรพสัตว์และยื่นมือเข้าช่วยเหลือด้วยความเมตตา ชาวจีนนับถือท่านในฐานะที่พึ่งยามเจ็บไข้ ยามทุกข์ยาก และยามขอบุตร ความศรัทธานี้เดินทางมาสู่ประเทศไทยพร้อมชาวจีนโพ้นทะเลกลุ่มแต้จิ๋วและฮกเกี้ยน และหยั่งรากลึกจนมีศาลเจ้าและวิหารกวนอิมอยู่ทั่วประเทศ เช่น ที่มูลนิธิเทียนฟ้าและศาลเจ้าหลายแห่งในย่านเยาวราช Guan Yin (Avalokiteshvara) is the Bodhisattva of compassion in Mahayana Buddhism, said to hear the cries of all beings and reach out to relieve their suffering. Chinese communities turn to her in sickness, in hardship, and when praying for children. The devotion arrived in Thailand with the Teochew and Hokkien diaspora and took deep root — Guan Yin halls and shrines are found nationwide, including the Thian Fa Foundation and many shrines around Yaowarat (Bangkok's Chinatown).

- ข้อห้ามห้ามถวายเนื้อสัตว์หรือของคาวโดยเด็ดขาด ให้ถวายของเจเท่านั้น Never offer meat or savoury animal dishes — offer only vegetarian food
- ข้อห้ามหมอช้างแนะนำว่าการขอพรเจ้าแม่กวนอิมควรอธิษฐานด้วยใจบริสุทธิ์ ไม่ควร 'บนบาน' แลกเปลี่ยน Per the astrologer Mo Chang's guidance, pray with a sincere heart rather than making bargaining vows (บนบาน)
