เห้งเจีย (孫悟空) หรือซุนหงอคง คือพญาวานรจากวรรณกรรมไซอิ๋ว ผู้ภายหลังสำเร็จเป็นพระอรหันต์มีนามว่า 'ไต้เสี่ยฮุกโจ้ว' (大聖佛祖) ชาวจีนนับถือท่านในฐานะเทพแห่งปัญญา ไหวพริบ ความเฉลียวฉลาด และการเอาชนะทุกอุปสรรค ผู้คนจึงนิยมขอพรเรื่องการเรียนและการงาน ความศรัทธานี้แพร่หลายในหมู่ชาวจีนทางใต้โดยเฉพาะกวางตุ้งและฮกเกี้ยน และเดินทางมาสู่ไทยพร้อมชาวจีนโพ้นทะเล มีศาลเจ้าเห้งเจียที่เก่าแก่ในเยาวราชซึ่งสร้างขึ้นตั้งแต่รัชสมัยรัชกาลที่ 2 Sun Wukong (孫悟空), the Monkey King of the classic Journey to the West, later attained arhatship under the title 'Tai Sia Hud Zo' (大聖佛祖). Chinese communities venerate him as a god of wit, cleverness, and the power to overcome any obstacle — so devotees pray to him for study and career. The devotion is strong among southern Chinese, especially Cantonese and Hokkien, and travelled to Thailand with the diaspora; an old Sun Wukong shrine in Yaowarat (Bangkok) dates to the reign of King Rama II.
